Greg Dodge - who opened the pizza/wine/beer specialist Zavino in late 2009 at the northwest corner of 13th and Sansom Streets (and followed up earlier this spring with a branch in University City) - is cooking up something new.
Dodge is going across the street from the Washington Square West flagship, taking over the southwest corner of 13th and Sansom Streets, which until recently was a pet boutique.
He said he would add a restaurant whose concept is still being refined.
It will be complementary to Zavino and will open in December.
(On his Instagram, HughE Dillon speculated today that Zavino would be "expanding," but Dodge told me that would not be the case.)
The rendering you see here bills the spot as "Enoteca," but that is dummy type simply meant to evoke the look/feel.
This immediate block has exploded in recent years, when you add Barbuzzo, Jamonera, the redone Lolita, Little Nonna's, Sampan, El Vez, Opa, Vintage, Capogiro, Raw, Time, Bar, The Corner (where a name change is about to be announced), and the week-old Charlie was a sinner.
I'm also hearing that one of these above restaurants is fixing to expand.
